One word. One liar. Find them.
The viral party game, now on Discord. 3 to 12 players.
Add to DiscordSimple rules. Maximum chaos.
Everyone gets a word
Each player receives a secret word. Most players get the same word, but one person, the undercover, gets a slightly different one.
Describe your word
Take turns giving one-word clues. Be descriptive enough to prove you know the word, but vague enough not to reveal it to the undercover.
Find the liar
Discuss, debate, and analyze everyone's clues. Who seems suspicious? Who's blending in a little too well? Vote to eliminate the most suspect player.
Reveal
The eliminated player's role is revealed. Were you right? Or did you just vote out a fellow citizen? The game continues until the undercover is caught or wins.
Three roles. Three agendas.
Citizen
You have the majority word and must identify who doesn't. Coordinate with other citizens to unmask the undercover through careful deduction.
Undercover
Your word is similar but not the same. Stay under the radar by giving clues that are close enough to pass as a citizen. Survive every vote to win.
Phantom
You have no word at all. Rely on what others say to improvise believable clues. The ultimate bluff. Can you fake it until the end?
Can you tell them apart?
Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

Frequently asked questions
Undercover is a multiplayer social deduction word game for Discord. Players receive secret words. Most get the same word, but the undercover player gets a similar but different one. Through clues, discussion, and voting, players must figure out who has the different word before the undercover blends in and wins.
You need between 3 and 12 players. The game is best with 5 to 8 players, which gives the right balance of deduction and chaos. With fewer players the undercover has less room to hide, while larger groups create more confusion and longer debates.
No. There are no in-app purchases, no premium tiers, and no ads. Just add the Activity to your Discord server and start playing.
Word pairs are currently available in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. The game interface is also fully translated in all four languages. More languages are coming based on community feedback.
A typical game lasts 3 to 5 minutes, depending on how many players and rounds you have. This makes it perfect for quick rounds between activities, or you can play multiple games in a row for a longer game night session.
The Phantom is an optional advanced role that receives no word at all. They must listen to other players' clues and improvise believable answers on the fly. It's the hardest role in the game and adds an extra layer of deception for experienced players.
